Tribal–County Crosswalk

The Tribal–County Crosswalk is a statewide reference tool that links Montana’s 56 counties with the Tribal Nations whose homelands, histories, and New Deal project sites intersect with those counties. This crosswalk supports research, interpretation, and collaboration across administrative and cultural boundaries.

How to Use the Crosswalk

Each county is linked to:

  • The Tribal Nations whose homelands include or border the county
  • New Deal programs active in both the county and the Nation
  • Shared ecological systems (watersheds, mountain ranges, river basins)
  • Relevant archival materials in the Cultural Landscape Archive

Use this tool to explore overlapping histories, shared landscapes, and multi‑jurisdictional New Deal projects.
